Dr. Ray began his professional career as the Director of Research at Xavier University in New Orleans – the only Black Catholic University in the Western Hemisphere – despite being neither Black nor Catholic. At Xavier members of the community began to seek out his expertise for marketing applications as well as a wide variety of project planning and evaluation activities. Dr. Ray subsequently served as the Senior Market Analyst for the Regional Transit Authority, where he began to be recruited on a consultant basis by the local hospitality industry and various special events in the City. Dr. Ray subsequently served as the Research/Evaluation Director or Contractor on several multi-million dollar Federal research projects (e.g. New Orleans AIDS Demonstration Grant; Target Cities Project), He also served several years as a Special Assistant to the Hawaii Director of Human Services as well as the Consulting Director of numerous state-wide projects in several states.
SR&A analyses and reporting have ranged from numerous program evaluation studies and consumer surveys to baseline as well as sophisticated market research. These studies have included feasibility assessments, market segment analyses, image and positioning assessments, conjoint/pricing analyses, media pre-testing, evaluations of advertising campaigns and their market penetration, customer satisfaction monitoring, econometric analyses and forecasting, attendance projections and cost/benefit analyses.
